You can use web links on your web page to connect to a site that has a similar content as yours. Sites that are of similar content and that are linked together through web links are commonly called web rings. Why do people have web rings in the first place? For example, you are a user that is addicted to online gaming. Web rings allow a gaming addict to go from one site to another in order to satisfy his need for gaming information. Web sites involved in web rings benefit from sticking together and getting a bulk of internet users. A user from one site won?t have to go to another competing site in order to satisfy his need for information. Collaboratively, users from another site will check out your site if you are involved in a web ring. Everyone wins through web links.

Web links are also useful when you want to link yourself to a complementary site. If you are a site that is into online dating, then you might want to add web links that direct users to sites pertaining to dating advice, vacations, or great dining in your area. If you are a site that is into fishes, then you might want to add web links that direct users to sites pertaining to fish food, aquarium maintenance, or online fish stores. Collaboratively, the dating advice site, the vacation site, and the great dining site may add a web link that directs the user to the online dating site. The fish food site, the aquarium maintenance site, and the online fish store site may add a web link that directs the user to the fish site. In this way, everyone wins through web link collaboration.

Sometimes web links are mandatory. If you are looking at a game site, then the game site will definitely have a link to the game producer web site. For instance, if you look up the NBA Live Game, you will definitely find a link that goes to the web site of Electronic Arts, the game producer.

Web links today are very useful. They link websites in one way or another in order to benefit everyone in the big picture.
