Call For Entries: Designs For the Internet Generation
(PRWEB) January 31, 2008 -- Electrolux, a global leader in home appliances and appliances for professional use, launches the 6th edition of its annual design competition via www.ElectroluxDesignLab.com and will select a limited number of entries to compete in Zurich at the international finals October 8 & 9, 2008.
The Internet generation comprises brand-conscious, busy young professionals between 25-35 who are independent, concerned about the environment, and whose lives are intertwined with technology and online social networks.
This year's submissions should be for 2-3 years into the future and address food storage, cooking, and/or washing.
"We are looking for daring ideas and solutions," says Henrik Otto, Head of Global Design at Electrolux. "Entries should reflect the iGeneration's core interests and concerns like mobility, convenience, time, materials, personalization, entertaining, technology, and sustainability."
About Design Lab
Since 2003, thousands of design students have participated in the Electrolux Design Lab competition, which culminates in a different city every year at an international press event. Previous venues include Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm, New York, and Budapest.
Last year's competition "Green designs for 2020" was won by Levente Szabó from Moholy-Nagy University of Art & Design, Hungary, with E-wash, a compact washing machine that uses soap nuts instead of detergent.
The Design Lab 2008 has a First Prize of 5,000 Euro and a six-month internship at one of Electrolux's global design centers. The second prize is 3,000 Euro and third prize 2,000 Euro. An international jury will judge the entries based on intuitive design, innovation, and consumer insight.
Entries must be submitted by May 30, 2008 via www.ElectroluxDesignLab.com. A limited number of finalists will be chosen by the end of May and invited to Zurich to make a final presentation to the jury on October 8 & 9 where the winner will be announced and the prizes awarded.
Visit the Design Lab website for more information about the competition, high-resolution photos of previous finalists and their concepts, broadcast quality b-roll, and to watch videos from last year's competition on Design Lab TV.

Why CRM Should Start At Your Web Site
Often, the first contact your company may have with a prospective customer is on your web-site. For those visitors, your sales cycle begins right there. The typical workflow might be something like this: the visitor?s contact information is collected by the web site and sent to an email address; someone in the company gets the email and takes it over to sales; then someone in sales calls or writes the prospect; depending on what happens then, someone has to remember to follow up on that prospect later? and so on. Unfortunately, equally often, the result is prospects that slip through the cracks of your organization, a longer sales cycle, and higher costs for excessive handling of prospect information.

The History Of Domain Names
What is a domain name? A domain name is a unique name, kind of like an e-mail address is unique, which is registered in a database called WHOIS through an organization called Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI). The domain name corresponds to a unique set of numbers called an IP (Internet Protocol) address. The reason we use domain names instead of IP addresses is that they are closer to our language. It would be difficult to market a site like this: "Go to 64.233.167.99 or 216.109.112.135 to search the internet!" A much easier way to do this is to say "Go to www.Google.com or www.yahoo.com to search the internet!" (Both Google and Yahoo are tra...

Make Money Online With Domain Names
Domain names have become a very popular way to make money online, and some of these names may go for quite a profit. When the Internet first became popular, there were some people who had the foresight to buy the rights to some domain names that are very sought after. A domain name becomes public if the website owner forgets to renew the name with the provider, so it becomes a public domain name. These public domain names are available for purchase or lease.
3 Keys To Securing Your Web Site
We all hope it won't happen to us. We keep our typing fingers crossed. But one day, it will. Web site owners who have been doing business online for some length of time know all the trouble one hacker can cause. Once a hacker gains access to a Web site they can do a devastating amount of damage to an established business. It is for this reason that most online businesses hire a team of Web site security specialists to make sure this never happens. Whether it's people who just accidentally entered a forbidden part of a Web site or those who hack into a system deliberately, the goal is to prevent it before it happens. Here are three steps you can take.
