Toolbars are typically horizontal rows of buttons, icons and text that appear below the main part of an Internet browser. Toolbars are designed to add innovative, new functions and abilities to browsers. Many consumers are familiar with the toolbars released by the major search engines, but "most people don't know that there are now a large number of specialized toolbars that can make life easier for you across the full range of your activities," Judson said. We are launching the service with about 200 free toolbars and anticipate that this number will grow quickly," Judson added.

For toolbar owners, basic participation in the directory is free. Toolbar Station is divided into multiple categories that include search engines, social networking, shopping, local search, communications, business, Internet marketing and development, sports, health, games, personal interests, age groups, travel, and utilities. If a toolbar is not listed in the directory, owners can submit their toolbars with a simple form located at the site.

Judson also noted that the site has an automated function that makes it easy for toolbar owners to purchase advertising that promotes their toolbars to prospective users. "We also wanted to create a place where toolbar owners could promote these terrific capabilities to our pre-sold audience," he added.
