Canadian Stroke Network Partners with Trialstat to Create Specialized Web-Based Registry of Stroke Patients

Ottowa, ON (PRWEB) May 30, 2007 -- TrialStat Corporation, a clinical data management on demand company, today announced that the Ottawa-based Canadian Stroke Network (CSN) is using ClinicalAnalytics 4.0™ (CA), the company's on demand electronic data capture (EDC) platform, for a Web-based registry of Canadian stroke patients. CSN selected TrialStat's CA because of its ability to evolve with the changing research requirements of the national registry. In addition, CA provides research staff with an easy-to-use interface that allows users to extract and enter data simply and quickly.

Called SPIRIT (Stroke Performance Indicators for Reporting, Improvement & Translation Project), the online registry enables healthcare professionals at different research sites to collect data on stroke to help improve the prevention, treatment and recovery for 50,000 Canadians who suffer a stroke every year. Largely preventable and treatable, stroke is one of the country's biggest public health issues and a leading cause of adult disability. The collected data will also allow clinicians and hospital administrators to have a better understanding of the diagnosis and the management of stroke and to improve care and education for future stroke patients and their families.
