Internet Broadcasting Sees Record Visitors in January

Minneapolis, MN (PRWeb) February 23, 2007 -- Internet Broadcasting, the nation's largest publisher of local news online, announced today that a record 13.8 million visitors (as measured by Nielsen//NetRatings) came to its network of more than 70 TV station Web sites in January. The record easily surpassed the company's previous monthly high of 13.3 million viewers, set in March 2006.

Two factors drove the record traffic last month: Weather and Football. College football's biggest Bowl games and the NFL playoffs took place last month and featured teams from many Internet Broadcasting markets. January also had three winter weather storms, tornadoes in the Southeast and a wildfire in southern California attracting viewers in large numbers. In fact, January's 57 million weather pageviews were nearly double those of December 2006, and more than 125% higher than those in January 2006.

"This record validates Internet Broadcasting's core competency for delivering news that hits home with our viewers," said Julie Burrows, Internet Broadcasting's EVP of Marketing, Research, and Product Development. "It also reflects the strength of our TV partner brands as trusted providers of local news for online viewers looking for information that affects their daily lives, like the weather or their hometown sports teams."

January's record traffic makes Internet Broadcasting the nation's 4th largest online news publisher and 54th largest Web property overall as measured by Nielsen//NetRatings. When coupled with November, 2006's 13.2 million visitors, January's record gives the company two site traffic records in the last three months.

Traffic numbers represent an aggregate total among Internet Broadcasting's network of more than 70 TV station Web sites.
